Edouard Delaunay Denomination of Origin: AOP Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits Philosophy What if the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits were the future of Burgundy… Just a few kilometres west of the Grand Crus of Côte de Nuits, with similar soil profiles, the vineyards of Hautes-Côtes de Nuits flourish. This is the territory of the Delaunay family, who settled at Château de Charmont, in l’Étang‑Vergy, in 1954. Here, the higher elevations of the vines (+100 – 150 m) can offer an interesting solution to climate change, delivering fresh, pure and elegant wines. Faithful to our history, we aim to give visibility to these future terroirs, which further enhance our beautiful region – today recognised for its UNESCO‑classified climats – just as the monks of Cîteaux Abbey did in the Middle Ages. THE CUVÉE A blend of the great white terroirs of Hautes‑Côtes de Nuits, located in the communes of Villars‑Fontaine, Chevannes, the heights of Premeaux‑Prissey and Vergy. The south‑west exposure recalls that of the Grand Crus of Chablis and Corton‑Charlemagne. The higher altitude imparts freshness and minerality, while the south‑west sun allows the grapes to ripen perfectly. Moreover, 10 % Pinot Blanc, an ancestral variety, adds an extremely interesting fruit note. WINemaking and Ageing The grapes were hand‑picked and the entire bunches gently pressed. Fermentation began in stainless‑steel tanks before the wine was immediately transferred to barrels, where it underwent a slow vinification. Ageing on fine lees (23 % new oak) lasted 10 months, with light and regular bâtonnage, giving the wine greater complexity.
