Ferreira Para o Porto Ferreira Dona Antónia 20 Years – The hand‑picked grapes were vinified according to the traditional Port wine method. Controlled must fermentation took place in stainless‑steel vats and was halted by adding brandy. The wines are very elegant and possess great ageing potential. The wines that comprise the final batch of this Porto Ferreira Dona Antónia Tawny 20 Years remain in the Douro until they are transported to the Ferreira caves in V.N.Gaia the following spring, entering the traditional Port wine ageing scheme in oak barrels, with the Porto Ferreira style. During this period the wine undergoes numerous transfers, analyses and tastings, allowing close monitoring of its ageing, and adjustments, refreshments and corrections are made whenever the tasting dictates. The final batch is produced using wines aged between 15 and 40 years, so that the average age, type, quality and style of the Porto Ferreira Dona Antónia Tawny 20 Years is always achieved.
