This Feuerheerd’s Reserva clearly spent some time getting to know its Tourigas Francesas and Aragonez counterparts – the result is a deeply inviting colour. The nose bursts with ripe black cherry, underpinned by a touch of tobacco, hinting at the Douro’s refinement. On the palate, the exuberance of the black fruit is beautifully balanced by a graphite note, with tannins so polished – hence the name – that they glide effortlessly, begging for a hearty grilled beef accompaniment, naturally.
