The Graeme & Julie Bott First Flight Syrah is an excellent calling card for the wines produced by the estate of the same name in the northern Rhône. The Syrah grape, which takes center stage here, is grown in granite soils in the municipalities of Ampuis and Condrieu and, after a brief but well-judged nine months of aging in oak, it offers an inviting aroma of cinnamon, clove, blackberries and ripe plums, as well as a robust and interesting structure on the palate without losing its freshness.
