This Encruzado from Freire Lobo is a delightfully puzzling wine from the Dão. It offers notes of nuts, subtly underscored by a touch of smoked wood, undoubtedly a result of its time in oak. Remarkably restrained yet complex, it finishes with a refreshing, mineral character – a wine perfectly suited for a cellar that values tradition, utilising lagares and the region’s unique terroir. Wonderful with white fish and a good local cured pork.
