Sogrape Vinhos was founded in 1942 by Fernando van Zeller Guedes with the ambition of introducing Portuguese wines to the world, backed by a long‑term vision that prioritised the quality of its offerings, brand innovation and elegant presentation. Today, under the third generation of the founding family, the company faithfully fulfills its original aim: to be a family‑run, internationally‑ambitious enterprise focused on quality wine production, innovation and the development of globally recognised Portuguese brands. Sogrape Vinhos owns around 830 hectares of vineyards in Portugal. Gazela was the first Vinho Verde brand produced and marketed by the company; its 2004 image overhaul and repositioning helped cement its international presence, now spanning more than 50 countries across all five continents.
