This Gazela S Verdes is clearly a passion project from Maria Eduarda – a seriously vibrant expression of Alvarinho. You get a real jolt of acidity, like a tiny electric shock, and the citrus and wild herb notes are beautifully balanced by a refreshing minerality that whispers of the Minho River. Apparently, it snagged a medal at the Santiago de Compostela International Wine Competition – a rather grand claim, perhaps, but it does suggest a wine of considerable quality. Perfect with grilled fish or a simple salad, I’d say.
