Graeme & Julie Bott First Flight Syrah is an excellent showcase of the wines produced by the namesake estate in the north of the Rhône. The Syrah grape, the star here, is grown on the granite soils of Ampuis and Condrieu and, after a short but well‑balanced nine‑month oak maturation, offers an alluring bouquet of cinnamon, cloves, blackberries and ripe plums, coupled with a robust yet lively mouthfeel that retains its freshness.
