This Guyot project feels utterly pulled from a Douro fairytale. Grown in a century-old plot with a frankly bewildering blend of over 60 indigenous grape varieties – a veritable geological survey of the schistous soils at 450 metres – the producer is taking a serious gamble with the Douro’s soul. They’re convinced this patient, complex fermentation is the key to unlocking the true spirit of the region, just as the old vine growers intended. Prepare for intensity, and definitely pair it with a hearty roast – it’ll thank you for it.
