This Guyot Reserva, lauded with 91 points, is a real journey through the Velhas vineyard. The colour hints at the ripeness of the grapes and the depth of the Douro. You’re immediately greeted with intense notes of wild berries and black plum, beautifully complemented by the vanilla nuance imparted by the ageing in oak. On the palate, the tannins are incredibly smooth, almost dancing, and the finish is remarkably persistent with a lovely smoky trace – a rather unexpected twist that perfectly echoes the Douro’s slopes. Wonderful with a hearty roast.
