Sogrape Vinhos was founded in 1942 by Fernando van Zeller Guedes with the ambition of introducing Portuguese wines to the world and a long‑term vision based on the quality of the wines it sells, the importance of brand novelty, and the presentation of its products. Today, led by the third generation of the founding family, Sogrape Vinhos increasingly fulfills the goal set at its inception: to be a family‑run, internationally oriented company focused on producing quality wines, fostering innovation, and developing Portuguese brands of global standing. The company owns about 830 hectares of vineyards across Portugal. Since 1942 it has invested in the country’s major wine regions, and as expected, the Alentejo region has always sparked the desire to launch a project capable of offering consumers the quality of Alentejo wines. In 1998, the acquisition of Herdade do Peso was completed, quickly establishing itself in the national market thanks to its ability to deliver wines of varying complexity and styles.
