Sogrape Vinhos was founded in 1942 by Fernando van Zeller Guedes with the ambition of introducing Portuguese wines to the world and a long‑term vision based on the quality of the wines sold, the importance of brand innovation, and the presentation of its products. Today led by the third generation of the founding family, Sogrape Vinhos increasingly fulfills the objective set at its inception: to be a family‑run, internationally‑oriented company focused on producing quality wines, fostering innovation, and developing Portuguese brands of global standing. The company owns about 830 hectares of vineyards across Portugal. Since 1942, Sogrape Vinhos has invested in the country’s principal wine regions, and naturally the Alentejo region has always inspired a project to deliver the quality of Alentejan wines to consumers. In 1998, the acquisition of the Herdade do Peso estate was completed, quickly establishing a national presence thanks to its ability to offer wines of varying complexity and styles.
