Sogrape Vinhos was founded in 1942 by Fernando van Zeller Guedes, with the ambition of introducing the world to Portuguese wines and a long‑term vision based on the quality of the wines it sells, the novelty of its brands, and the presentation of its products. Today led by the third generation of the founding family, Sogrape Vinhos increasingly fulfills the objective set at its inception: to be a family‑run, internationally oriented company focused on producing quality wines, fostering innovation, and developing Portuguese brands of global standing. The company owns about 830 hectares of vineyards in Portugal. Since 1942, Sogrape Vinhos has invested in the country’s major wine regions, and naturally the Alentejo region has always inspired a desire to launch a project that could offer consumers the quality of Alentejo wines. Thus, in 1998, the acquisition of Herdade do Peso was completed, quickly positioning the estate in the national market for its ability to deliver varying levels of complexity and styles of wine.
