This 23 from Herdade dos Grous is a delightful reminder that the Alentejo still holds a few surprises. Predominantly made with Touriga Nacional, it bursts with ripe red fruit – think dark cherry and plum – and it’s clear this wine has spent some time ageing in oak, lending it a particular elegance. A complex wine, true to the region’s rustic character, yet underpinned by a vibrant acidity, it’s utterly perfect with a good black pork roast, wouldn’t you agree?
