Herdade de São Miguel The Friends Collection is a red wine produced in special vintages, always in collaboration with a close friend of the Relvas House. In 2017 it was Nicola Fagotto’s turn. Made from the Alicante Bouschet, Trincadeira and Touriga Nacional grapes, the batch was crafted by Nicola, who selected the best barrels of the year. With 24 months of aging in French oak barrels, this red wine displays an intense garnet colour, with a restrained aroma of forest fruits and balsamic notes. It offers an excellent structure of tannins and balance, culminating in a complex, elegant and persistent finish. The Relvas House is a family project that began in 1997 in São Miguel de Machede, Redondo, by Alexandre Relvas, aimed at continuing the story of five generations with a strong passion for Alentejo and its genuine nature. Over the years, the family grew alongside the business and it wasn’t long before the estate reached about 750 hectares of forest, 225 hectares of olive grove and 350 hectares of vineyards, all 100 % integrated production. With the three estates – Herdade de São Miguel, Herdade da Pimenta and Herdade de São Miguel de Machede – the Relvas House has the capacity to produce 6 million bottles of wine annually, of which 70 % are destined to meet external market demand, being present in more than 30 countries worldwide, offering the best of Alentejo.
