There are six generations of descendants of Mr. José Maria da Fonseca and six grape varieties that make it up: Touriga Nacional, Syrah, Trincadeira, Tinta Cão, Touriga Franca, and Tannat. The blend of these six grapes imparts the wine with unique complexity, an intense ruby colour, and a dense, closed aroma. It is a red wine with well‑integrated tannins and a long finish.
