Horácio Simões O Moscatel Roxo “Excellent” is a generous dessert wine produced in the Demarcated Region of Setúbal (since 1907). The Horácio Simões Agricultural House had the vision to revive this variety, which was practically extinct in the region, giving rise to this true nectar; through the hands of the winemaker, Luís Camacho Simões. This wine is the result of more than 100 years of dedicated work between the vineyard and the cellar. The vines, with yields controlled to no more than 2,500 litres per hectare, were carefully monitored over decades. In the cellar, a proprietary vinification was developed, distinct from the traditional method. The prolonged ageing takes place in various wooden barrels, where the wine concentrates and evolves over decades. The “Excellent” is born from a very special batch of selected barrels, resulting in a rare, deep, and impressive wine.
