The production of Moscatel, as a fortified wine, is similar to that of Port wines, resulting in sweet wines where the alcoholic fermentation is halted by the addition of grape spirit. After a set period of maceration, the Moscatel wine is placed in barrels to mature and refine its rich, aromatic profile.
