The Jorge Rosa Santos & Sons Agricultural Society Ltd. is the family company that manages the agricultural operations at Monte do Mata Mouros, in the parish of Glória in Estremoz. The family has a deep connection to farming that stretches back to the era of the Marquis of Pombal, and the current generation drew the inspiration that launched this “small project.” Monte do Mata Mouros is a modest plot of land situated on a spur of the Serra d’Ossa, overlooking the Ribeira de Tera valley. Here high‑quality grape varieties were planted under conditions of great austerity, shaped by exceptional microclimatic factors and the plot’s skeletal, stony soils. The philosophy guiding the vineyard’s viticultural and enological practices is rooted in allowing the vine to express itself freely, as it is considered unique. Accordingly, each harvest deliberately displays distinctive characteristics, reflecting the vines’ response to the environmental variations of that year. Every harvest is irreplicable and inimitable.
