This Insólito Reserva from the Alentejo is a genuinely surprising wine. Initially, it bursts with the sweetness of wild berries, cleverly offset by a balsamic note – think a fragrant herb – alongside a definite cocoa presence. On the palate, it’s wonderfully structured, with mature tannins, largely thanks to the Touriga Nacional, and a satisfying weight that suggests it will age gracefully. Absolutely brilliant with a grilled beef roast or a hearty pork stew.
