This JK Curiosity, from Julia Kemper, seems to have been on a rather indulgent extended stay in French oak – a full 14 months, you know – resulting in a wonderfully smooth, velvety texture and a delicate hint of vanilla. The noble Douro Touriga Nacional adds a wonderful expressiveness, while the Alfrocheiro lends a touch of red fruit. A truly elegant and complex wine, it would pair beautifully with duck or sautéed mushrooms, wouldn’t it?
