A family business with almost two centuries of history, that never rests on its laurels, has continually modernised. José Maria da Fonseca has been engaged in winemaking since 1834, a result of a shared passion within a family that has preserved and projected the memory and prestige of its founder. Knowing the responsibility of being today the oldest producer of table wine and Moscatel de Setúbal in Portugal, the company follows a philosophy of continuous development, investing ever more in research and production support, combining the latest techniques with traditional know‑how. A prime example is the José de Sousa Rosado Fernandes winery in Reguengos de Monsaraz, Alentejo, where the Roman tradition of fermenting in clay pots coexists with modern technology.
