A family business with nearly two centuries of history that, never resting on its laurels, has known how to modernise. José Maria da Fonseca has been engaged in winemaking since 1834, a result of a shared family passion that has managed to preserve and project the memory and prestige of its founder. Aware of its responsibility as today the oldest producer of table wine and Moscatel de Setúbal in Portugal, José Maria da Fonseca follows a philosophy of continuous development, which drives it to invest ever more in research and production infrastructure, blending the latest technology with traditional know‑how. A prime example is the Adega José de Sousa Rosado Fernandes in Reguengos de Monsaraz, Alentejo, where the Roman tradition of fermenting in clay pots coexists with the newest technology.
