Achelo is a delicate wine with a rich flavor and an intense purple‑ruby color, produced exclusively from Syrah grapes to honor the historical and cultural significance of the Cortona region. The wine’s name was inspired by the Etruscan god Achelo, who appears on one of the most important Etruscan artifacts housed in the Museo dell’Accademia Etrusca in Cortona. It offers aromas of ripe red fruits and spices, with black pepper and licorice standing out, complemented by pleasant floral notes of violets. It is easy to drink, with a smooth palate characterized by silky tannins and excellent freshness. The finish is long and flavorful, with notes of plum compote and vanilla. The Antinori family has been producing wine for over six centuries. Since then, in 1385, Giovanni di Piero Antinori became a member of the Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri. Throughout its long history, spanning 26 generations, the family has always managed this activity directly, making innovative and sometimes bold choices, yet always maintaining an unwavering respect for tradition and territory. La Braccesca covers 508 hectares, where the ancient Bracci estate was located, giving the estate its name and its coat of arms: an arm covered in armor holding a sword. The property has been owned by the Marchesi Antinori since 1990.
