This Lagoa, straight from the Algarve, delivers a proper lesson in red fruit – cherry and raspberry swirling through a compote that’s done exceptionally well. It boasts a sturdy structure, with beautifully soft tannins hinting at a long, enjoyable finish. Rumour has it the secret lies in careful fermentation and ageing in vats amongst rye straw – a touch that really enhances its character. Absolutely brilliant with a good grilled steak; it’ll really sing!
