Description

Leeuwin Estate consistently produces wines that rank among the world’s best. The Art Series Chardonnay are included in the prestigious Langton’s auction house ranking. With scores reaching 98/100, the American magazine *Wine Spectator* has repeatedly placed the Art Series Chardonnay in its annual list of the 100 Best Wines. The esteemed Australian critic James Halliday listed Leeuwin Estate in his Top 100 Australian Producers: “Long recognised as one of the greatest Chardonnay producers in Margaret River and indeed all of Australia, this is one of the country’s most prestigious family properties… Leeuwin Estate is not just a Chardonnay producer. Its Cabernet Sauvignon is of the highest quality, as is its Shiraz.” **The Review** “A fresh, cool aroma reminiscent of crisp vegetables such as celery, a hint of French onion, fine green herbs, lime zest and green pears. Vigorous and precise, with just a subtle touch of oak. It has strength, well‑balanced, without excess body or a character dominated by oak – that is exactly what defines this Chardonnay. Decanting is recommended; prolonged contact with air does it good. The aromatics then evolve to more mature notes of yellow fruit.” — *Vinum Wine Magazine*, May 2024 “This Chardonnay exudes a strong floral perfume, coming from one of Margaret River’s most well‑known properties. Orchard flowers mingle with melon, pear and citrus, with slight hints of toasted, salt and a smoky nuance. On the palate, from light to medium body, it presents lively, lively acidity. It masterfully balances oak character with buttery notes and juicy citrus flavours. Less opulent than some contemporaries, it’s delightful to drink now, though it can evolve for a few more years.” – *Wine Enthusiast*, September 2023 “Inviting aromas of white grapefruit, peach pits, lime cream, white flowers and a hint of freshly grated nutmeg. Notes of scallops and oyster shells are also felt. Medium body, elegant yet powerful, with creamy and phenolic layers and delicious saline and silica nuances. Drink now or keep. Screw cap.” – James Suckling, October 2022 “(2022) From an excellent harvest, the Art Series Chardonnay ferments in 100% new French oak barrels, with a percentage of whole bunches. The wine is blended after 11 months in wood. Despite the significant oak ageing, it presents gentle almond notes and a slight creamy touch, without excess toasty character. More precise than the previous harvest, it reveals buttered Brazilian walnut nuances and a fresh freshness in the fruit, a slight tangerine touch over peach and mature pear. On the palate it is medium body, with excellent freshness, lively acidity and marked by lime, balancing the more buttery and tropical flavours. Saline and citrus notes add definition and firmness.” – Tom Cannavan, January 2022 **Awards** - 97/100 – Robert Parker – *The Wine Advocate* - 97/100 – *The Wine Front* - 95/100 – *Wine Enthusiast* - 95/100 – Tom Cannavan - 93/100 – *CellarTracker* - 17.5/20 – *Vinum Wine Magazine*
