The Moon Full in Old Vineyards project stems from the passionate connection that its three founders—João Silva e Sousa, Francisco Baptista, and Manuel Dias—have maintained with the Douro for over two decades. After years of being amazed by this unique wine region, 2009 marked the moment to showcase their vision of Douro wines. The company’s story began that year with white wines from Murça, a forgotten corner of progress that produces distinct, identity‑rich wines. In 2010, they began investing in a cellar in Martim, Douro, and in 2012 in the birthplace of Alvarinho, Monção. In 2013, they also formed a partnership in Alentejo, vinifying selected grapes in third‑party facilities in Estremoz. As the project grew, it joined forces with Saven, S.A., already a partner in the food and beverage sector, creating Lua Cheia – Saven to better meet rising demand and enter new markets. With this merger, the group now includes additional brands, partners under the Wines & Winemakers By Saven umbrella, representing various Portuguese regions. (Illustrative image)
