This Castelão from Luis Seabra is certainly a wine that throws a curveball. Expect a deep ruby colour and a medium body, very much in keeping with the Douro’s classic grapes, yet with a wonderfully zesty acidity that bursts with red fruit flavours. The ripe fruit notes linger impressively long on the palate, and it pairs beautifully with grilled beef or a hearty pork stew – a match made in wine heaven, really.
