The Artur de Barros e Sousa Lda company was founded in 1890 by Pedro José Lomelino and has remained in the family over the years, with Artur and Edmundo Olim—descendants of the fourth generation—leading the way. Few changes have been made over time, making this estate a living museum. Artur de Barros e Sousa’s Madeira wines are delicate, becoming surprisingly complex with age. In 2014, the company was acquired by Pereira D’Oliveira, also a producer of Madeira wines, who now manages the business. The bottling year may not match the image shown (illustrative only).
