Very few producers, especially in Madeira wine, have experienced a revolution in their history as dramatic as that of Barbeito. Becoming a bulk wine supplier and, out of the blue, a regional benchmark for Madeira wines is an achievement. It all happened in 1991 when Ricardo Freitas joined the family business and, together with the Japanese Kinoshita partners, decided to make Barbeito one of the most important Madeira wine producers.
