This wine truly evokes a Rembrandt – a deep, almost sapphire-tinged purple. The “Magnum Dows Vintage” from the Douro, grown on ancient vines, packs a serious punch, delivering aromas of plum and cassis that certainly live up to the promise. On the palate, you find the characteristic Douro complexity – that lovely touch of alcaçuz and a hint of spice – amplified by a remarkable depth, as Jeff Leve so eloquently put it. It’s a wine with undeniable structure, firm tannins and a persistent finish, showcasing what the critic described as “maximum potential”. Absolutely perfect with a grilled fish, I’d say.
