This Maia Bio, from Quinta das Maias, truly feels like it’s whispered secrets from the Dão terroir. Crafted with Jaén and Touriga Nacional – and lauded with 16.5 points at Grandes Escolhas – it boasts a deep ruby colour and flavours of blackberry and plum, hallmarks of the Touriga Nacional. Remarkably fresh on the finish, yet retaining the balanced structure that Dão wines are famed for, it’s a perfect match for leaner red meats, perhaps a wild boar roast, much to the delight of producer Rui Reguinga.
