This Syrah from SOVIBOR, the Mamoré, is a wonderfully evocative wine, conjuring a modern take on nostalgia. Expect a deep ruby colour and a pronounced smoky character, a nod to the region’s cigar heritage. The tannins are impressively firm yet exquisitely balanced by a vibrant acidity – a hallmark of over 50 years of Borba’s winemaking tradition, now under the guidance of Fernando Tavares. Seriously, it’s fantastic with black pork and mashed potatoes.
