This “Mar da Palha” from Quinta de Chocapalha is a Sauvignon Blanc that’s clearly been through a rather spirited adolescence. It spent 24 days wrestling with itself in stainless steel tanks, and then indulged in a five-month conversation with its own lees – resulting in a surprisingly vibrant herbaceous and tropical complexity. The Wine Enthusiast awarded it 88 points, suggesting it’s at its peak, boasting good intensity and length. A fantastic pairing would be with freshly grilled shellfish, like a delicate hake.
