This Marquês de Almeida Grande Reserva clearly enjoyed a very pampered upbringing. The extended maceration – 12 hours, no less – alongside pneumatically pressed grapes indicates a genuine appreciation for the Arinto, Malvasia Fina, and Síria grapes and their unique terroir. That touch of citrus sweetness, interwoven with floral notes and a distinctive mineral character, is a testament to a wine meticulously crafted, as Robert Parker noted – “subtle and well-made”. It’s an excellent match for grilled fish, or perhaps a classic Bacalhau à Brás.
