This “Garrafeira” Baga has clearly taken its time to mature. Twelve years in stainless steel followed by a further 24 months in second-use oak – a patient approach that’s undoubtedly imbued it with a touch of contemplative melancholy. The classic winemaking process, incorporating partial délestage, suggests a deliberate restraint, while the extended barrel aging, with its pronounced aroma, ensures a distinctly defined character. Absolutely brilliant with a perfectly grilled beef dish – a truly satisfying pairing.
