Aware of the enormous potential of the lands of Cantanhede for producing superior-quality wines, a group of 100 farmers founded the Adega Cooperativa de Cantanhede in 1954. Today, with around 700 active associated winegrowers and an average annual production of 6 to 7 million kilograms of grapes, this winery is the leading producer in the Bairrada Demarcated Region, accounting for 30 to 40% of the region's total production.
