This Maynards 10 Year Tawny certainly seems to have been quietly maturing in the Douro – the deep brick colour with a shimmering amber hue hints at the luscious sweetness within. Notes of dried fruits and nuts mingle with a delicate honey undertone, almost like a little fairytale. On the palate, the velvety texture of ripe figs dances with a hint of compote, finishing with a warm caramel note. Absolutely divine with a chunk of blue cheese – a perfect pairing to cut through the richness.
