This Maynards Vintage feels like it’s sprung straight from a hidden garden in the Douro – those initial floral notes are a delicious promise. A rush of ripe black fruit – blackberry and blackcurrant, specifically – reveals a structure that certainly isn’t shy. The tannins, firm like the renowned Vinha Velha, beautifully balance the fruit with a succulent quality, a testament to the grapes’ careful maturation. Seriously, it would be fantastic with a good Iberico ham.
