The company was founded in 1926 by Messias Baptista, who ran the business until 1973. Today, the management of Caves Messias remains in the hands of the Messias family’s descendants. Since its inception, Messias has produced and marketed wines from the principal designated regions—Dão, Bairrada, Douro, Vinho Verde, Beiras, and Port—while also earning a reputation for the high quality of its natural sparkling wines and spirits.
