Troplong Mondot is one of the finest examples of the long-standing winemaking tradition of Saint-Émilion. At the beginning of the eighteenth century, the Mondot estate belonged to one of the most prestigious aristocratic families of Gironde, the de Sèze family. They became famous for defending Louis XVI before the Constitution. The count, a Peer of France who was also a member of the Académie Française, naturally brought his renown to the estate, and the wine of Mondot became one of the most sought-after in Saint-Émilion.
