Montaria The “Montaria” is a tribute to humanity’s best friend, the dog. Our very own Montaria, a German shepherd, lives on the Herdade da Candeeira estate in the Redondo region of Alentejo, and is with the viticulture and field teams every day, helping to bring the finest nectars to fruition. Alentejo is Portugal’s largest wine region and one of its most diverse. Its climate is Mediterranean continental, with the greatest temperature swings in the interior areas nearest the Spanish border. Vineyards across Alentejo showcase a wide range of varieties, with white grapes such as Antão Vaz, Roupeiro and Arinto dominating, alongside reds like Aragonês, Trincadeira and Alicante Bouschet. Vinification and maturation: grapes are harvested at night, subjected to low‑temperature pellicular maceration, and fermented in stainless‑steel tanks under controlled conditions. Malolactic fermentation develops in the presence of wood. The wines are aged in both French and American oak, giving them a velvety texture and a fresh, lively character.
