This Monte Cascas Reserva clearly has a very close relationship with its grapes – a direct press followed by four hours of “cradling” the must promises a serious intensity. The result is a wine with a remarkable minerality, as if it’s sprung straight from the schist of the Douro, tempered by a surprising hint of pineapple. The creamy texture, thanks to French oak, is beautifully balanced by a persistent acidity, suggesting a long and rewarding finish. It would pair wonderfully with freshly grilled fish or a delicate curry.
