Let’s just say this Monte da Cal Reserva isn’t shy about its love for French oak – a full eight months, no less. The result is a deeply ruby-red wine with a hint of brown, clearly paying homage to tradition. On the palate, it’s a beautifully fruity experience, underpinned by the elegance of Touriga Nacional. Syrah and Alicante Bouschet add their flavour, but without disrupting the overall balance. Seriously, it pairs brilliantly with a hearty pork roast, or, if you’re feeling adventurous, a perfectly executed *leitão à alentejana* – a wonderful contrast, wouldn’t you agree?
