This Monte da Ravasqueira Vinha das Romãs is a wine steeped in tradition, quite literally – it’s grown amongst the remains of orchards famed for their romãs (wild cherry trees!). The resulting aroma is a lovely reminder of this unique terroir. Crafted with painstaking manual labour and finished with open-lagar fermentation – complete with a clever automated “pisa” – it’s a masterclass in colour and flavour extraction. Twenty months aging in new French oak barrels has polished the tannins, revealing a spectrum of dark cherry, blackberry, and blueberry notes, leading to a remarkably balanced palate and a lingering finish. Perfect with a grilled beef steak, perhaps accompanied by a touch of honey.
