The Society of Agricultural Workers of Sossega, owner of Monte do Pintor, was established in 1991 with the primary goal of producing and marketing wines. In 1995 it began selling an Alentejo regional wine under the Monte do Pintor label. The vineyards are situated on gentle south‑facing slopes, grown on soils defined by a distinct terroir. At the vine planting stage, the traditional Alentejo red varieties Trincadeira and Aragonez are predominant, along with Castelão, Alfrocheiro, Tinta Caiada, Alicante, and Moreto, while the white varieties Verdelho, Arinto and Antão Vaz are also present.
