The Monte Meão white comes from two vineyards – Vinha do Rio and Vinha do Janeanes – planted on alluvial and slate soils with Arinto and Rabigato grapes, respectively. The wine aged five months in barrels and an additional four months in tank. It is highly mineral, with discreet and well‑integrated oak, excellent mouth volume, citrus notes, and a long, complex finish. The Ferreirinha estates are among the most emblematic in the Douro, and Quinta do Vale Meão, acquired on virgin land as a brand‑new project, carries a powerful symbolic weight. By its own merit it is truly one of Portugal’s most interesting and coveted wines, earning deserved praise for its consistent quality across vintages. The estate also produces a second wine, Meandro do Vale Meão, made from its newer vines. (Illustrative image only)
