The story of Montes reads like a dream, and that’s exactly how it began, gradually becoming reality. In 1987 our two original founders, Aurelio Montes and Douglas Murray—both highly experienced wine professionals—wanted to bring their dream of producing Chilean wines that far outperformed the standards of the time. The following year they were joined by the other two founders, Alfredo Vidaurre and Pedro Grand, who brought complementary skills and experience to the venture. Thus Montes was born, originally called Discover Wine. It was a dream that turned into reality for four great visionaries who managed to take Montes wines from a completely unknown place to over 100 countries worldwide, making first‑grow wines respected and admired by critics and the global market and drawing attention to what Chile is capable of producing.
