This Montes Claros Garrafeira is clearly a wine that’s had a good chinwag with its blend of Trincadeira, Syrah, Aragonez and Touriga Nacional. Born from old, schist-rich vineyards, it manages to perfectly balance the rustic character of the Trincadeira with the elegant touch of the Touriga Nacional. The fermentation in a blend of French, American and chestnut barrels adds a welcome layer of complexity – think red berry compote, a hint of coffee and those lovely spiced notes. Achieving a remarkable 90 points from *Revista de Vinhos*, this wine offers a robust structure, surprisingly supple tannins and a lingering finish that demands you savour every sip. Seriously, it pairs beautifully with a hearty roast or a slow-cooked pork dish.
