The story of Montes reads like a dream, and it truly began as one, gradually becoming reality. In 1987, our two original founders, Aurelio Montes and Douglas Murray, both highly experienced wine professionals, decided to realize their dream of producing Chilean wines of far superior quality to the standards of the time. In 1988, they joined forces with two other founders, Alfredo Vidaurre and Pedro Grand, who brought complementary skills and experience to the venture. Thus Montes was born, initially named Discover Wine. It was a dream turned into reality for four great visionaries who managed to take Montes wines from complete obscurity to more than 100 countries worldwide, earning respect and admiration from critics and the global market for first‑grow vintages, and highlighting what Chile is capable of producing.
